The greatest circle of the Achterhoek. Tear at breakneck speed with a sober outlook over the Achterhoek countryside, along the flanks of the IJssel, Salland, and the German border.

A beautiful round, perfectly outlined by hand – a lovely circle on the map and a super fun, bike-friendly route full of unique highlights. 🚴‍♂️✨

To put this rondo on the map, get ready for an incredibly beautiful ride! You weave through a varied landscape of wide meadows, dense forests, and charming villages.

Even the seasoned Achterhoeker discovers brand new roads and hidden gems on this loop. You’ll take in historical highlights like Ampsen Castle and Bronckhorst, but you can also really push the pedals at the famous Wall of Zeddam and Hettenheuvel. Sneak a bit of Germany at the Hemden border crossing, and pedal through the Needse Berg again. A ride full of variety, nature, and tranquility that you’ll really enjoy. After about 145km (or 153km of gravel) on the pedals, you’ll return to where you started. The circle is complete! All for each other!

Narrow tires? That’s perfectly fine! The route is entirely on paved roads, of which about 25km are real Achterhoek cobblestone stretches.

Gravel bike? Then take the road-gravel variant with an extra 30km of unpaved/gravel stretches.

Can you ride every day this Rondo?

Go on an adventure
Cycle this round whenever you want. You don't need to provide a date.

When there are large tours or cycling races, parts of the route may not be accessible or may have limited access. Check the cycling calendar and on the NDW website (does not work on mobile).

What is the starting point?

You can start anywhere on the circle.

Are you coming from further away? If possible, start a catering location on the route, so that you can start or end with a drink and/or a tasty (drink) snack.

What is the recommended riding direction?

Go on an adventure
This route is designed to be cycled counterclockwise. This is the best way to enjoy the climbs on the route and the most practical due to fewer crossings and traffic lights.

Events
For events, we cycle counterclockwise.

What to expect on the route?

The route is entirely about paved roads, of which approximately 25km are genuine Achterhoek brick sections.

is cancellation or exchange possible?

Rondo Pack
Upon placing your order, you receive immediate access to the Rondoguide and GPX files. Just like donations to charity, digital files are non-returnable. Consequently, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded.d.

Events
If you are unable to attend an event, you can go on a Self-guided adventure on another date using the digital Rondoguide and route files. Event extras (such as drinks) will be forfeited. No refunds will be provided.
