The Route

The largest circle of the province of Antwerp - Steps between the Trappists. A delightful journey through the land of abbeys, sandy soil, and pine scent. Flames along the canal and tasting the good life in Kempen.

A beautiful round, perfectly outlined by hand – a lovely circle on the map and a super fun, bike-friendly route full of unique highlights. 🚴‍♂️✨

To put this rondo on the map, immerse yourself in the Kempen region — an area of rustling pine forests, sparkling heathlands, slow canals, and centuries-old abbeys.
In the north, you string together two iconic places: the historic Wortel Colony, once established as a refuge for poor city dwellers, and the impressive St. Catherine's Church of Hoogstraten, one of the most beautiful Gothic churches in the Low Countries. Then you head east through the Baelse Hei and the expansive Regional Forests of Ravels, along the High Ponds and the quiet nature reserve Het Goorken. At the unique Crossroads of 4 canals, you understand why this land is so rich in water: the Molse Nete and the Grote Nete guide you southward along the Prinskensmolenweg to the Albert Canal Bridge.

In the south awaits the absolute highlight of the ride: the mystical Averbode Forest and Heath, home to the eponymous Norbertine abbey. This is Trappist territory in its finest form — time for a pit stop, as the abbey beers here are of a different order. Through Langdonken, Grote Laak, and the atmospheric Pelgrimhof, you turn westward towards the historic city of Lier. Through the Zevenberger Forest, you reach the imposing Albert Canal — one of the most beautiful waterways in Belgium. Along Domain ter Linden and the stately Castle of 's Gravenwezel, you wind northward through the Brechtse Heath, completing the circle. After 170 km on the pedals, you reach the point where you started. The circle is complete!

Narrow straps? That works perfectly! The route is entirely on paved roads, with a little bit of gravel in the southern part of the loop.

Offroad bike? Then take the gravel variant of 180 km with extra unpaved sections through the Kempen forests and heathlands. The surfaces are best suited for a mountain bike/offroad bike with wide tires.

In the lid of the Rondebox, you will find a unique start code link (for one-time use only). After check-in, which can be arranged in just a few clicks via our website, the Digital Rondoguide with the GPX files is immediately available in your account.

Immediately after ordering, the Digital Rondoguide with the GPX files is available in your account. The Rondobox will follow by post within a few days.

Can you ride every day this Rondo?

Go on an adventure
Ride this round whenever you want. You don't have to provide a date.

When there are large tours or cycling competitions, parts of the route may not be accessible or may have limited access. Check the competition calendar and  tour calendar.

What is the starting point?

You can start anywhere on the circle.

Are you coming from further away? If possible, start a catering location on the route, so that you can start or end with a drink and/or a tasty (drink) snack.

What is the recommended riding direction?

Go on an adventure
This round is designed to be cycled counterclockwise. This is the most beautiful and practical due to fewer crossings and traffic lights.

Events
For events, we cycle it counterclockwise.

What to expect on the route?

The route is entirely on paved roads.

The gravel route contains 50% unpaved / gravel sections.

Details / specifics on the route are listed in the Rondegids you receive with the purchase of the Ronde package.

How is the Rondobox delivered?

is cancellation or exchange possible?

Upon placing your order, you receive immediate access to the Rondoguide and GPX files. Just like donations to charity, digital files are non-returnable. Consequently, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded.d.

Events
If you are unable to attend an event, you can go on a Self-guided adventure on another date using the digital Rondoguide and route files. Event extras (such as drinks) will be forfeited. No refunds will be provided.

Tickets are personal and non-transferable.

Here are the steps to find the gpx:
