Gravel route ⟲750km+ ⇗1250m
The largest circle in the Netherlands - Based on 'The largest circle in the Netherlands' by Quinda, but even a bit rounder and more fun!
An iconic round, perfectly mapped out by hand into a super fun, bike-friendly route full of beautiful highlights and a unique circle on the map. 🚴♂️✨
To put this round on the map, you make an impressive loop through the Netherlands. In seven different provinces, you traverse a variety of beautiful landscapes between the German border on the east side and the North Sea coast on the west side.
It is a legendary round with famous (cycling) highlights, including Kopje van Bloemendaal, the VAM mountain, Montferland, Dwingelderveld National Park, Drents-Friese Wold, and over the famous beach boulevard of Egmond.
You cross various rivers and other waters, including the IJsselmeer/Wadden Sea via the 32km long Afsluitdijk (bike bus due to construction work). At Doornenburg-Pannerden, you take the ferry. At Ameide and Tiel, you have the option to take a ferry for the perfect circle, or to cycle a bit to a bridge further on. After at least 635km on the pedals, you return to the starting point. The circle is complete!
Narrow tires? The route goes entirely over paved roads.
Gravel bike? Take the surprising gravel route with approximately 40% unpaved/gravel sections.

Round-up
What points of attention are there on the route?
Checkpoints - In every direction, there is a checkpoint. To keep it practical and logistically feasible, you can only start at Checkpoint South (Tiel) and Checkpoint West (Schoorl). Participants receive a stamp card to collect a stamp at each checkpoint. During the event, the checkpoints can be recognized by the GranRondo banner.
The journey is self-supported. However, we will provide you with a little extra energy at the start and the checkpoints. And for a fee, more food/drinks will be available. It is not possible to stay overnight at the locations. At the starting locations, you can leave a bag during the event, but this is at your own risk. The organization/locations are not responsible for items that get lost or forgotten.
Narrow bands? The route goes entirely over paved roads, with about 3km of gravel in the Drents-Friese Wold where you can also cycle around, but then you will miss a very beautiful part of the Netherlands!
The gravel route contains approximately 40% unpaved/gravel sections spread over the route.
Longest Weekend Challenge starts in Schoorl – Due to ferry schedules, the gravel route is approximately 20km longer, so in total approximately 670km.
