The greatest circle of Overijssel - A beautiful tour through the rural and green landscape of Overijssel. Along the rivers and hills in Salland and Twente.

An iconic loop, hand-plotted to perfection into a super fun, bike-friendly route full of beautiful highlights — and a unique circle on the map. 🚴‍♂️✨

To put this rondo on the map, you swing through a beautiful varied landscape of wide meadows, fields, forests, and charming villages.

It is a strikingly water-rich journey: you pass countless streams, recreational lakes, and idyllic brooks, connected by lovely bridges. In the west, you are treated to a stunning passage along the IJssel near Zwolle, after which you cross the floodplain of the Overijsselse Vecht and Nature Reserve Reestdal in the north. All the way in the east, near the expansive Engbertsdijksvenen, you even briefly touch the German border. Through the beautiful nature of De Borkeld and a tricky climb over the Rijsserberg, you set course back home. After about 166km on the pedals, you return to the starting point. The circle is complete!

Narrow tires? That works perfectly! The route is entirely on paved roads, of which about 1km is gravel.

Gravel bike? Then take the gravel variant with 20km of extra unpaved / gravel sections.

Self-guided adventure
Ride this route whenever you like. You don't need to specify a date.

What is the starting point?

You can start anywhere on the circle.

Are you coming from further away? If possible, start a catering location on the route, so that you can start or end with a drink and/or a tasty (drink) snack.

What is the recommended riding direction?

Self-guided adventure
This route is designed to be cycled clockwise. This is the most scenic and practical route, as there are fewer pedestrian crossings and traffic lights.

Events
At events we cycle it clockwise.

What to expect on the route?

The route is entirely about the paved roads, of which approximately 1km is gravel.

The road-gravel route contains 20km of additional unpaved / gravel sections.
