The Route

Road route ⟲151km ⇗520m

The greatest circle of the Veluwe - A natural route at its finest; ride through forests and heathlands, past charming villages, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife.

A beautiful round, perfectly outlined by hand – a lovely circle on the map and a super fun, bike-friendly route full of unique highlights. 🚴‍♂️✨

To put this round on the map, you make an impressive loop through the most beautiful parts of the Veluwe. A recommendation is to start at the idyllic Carolinahoeve in De Steeg.

You leave National Park Veluwezoom at Dieren and cycle beautifully along the IJssel on the eastern side of the route, where you can enjoy a few surprising gravel sections along the way!

Once in the north, you trade the river landscape for the vast, rolling forests and heathlands around Elspeet and Vierhouten. After a wide crossing near Voorthuizen and the impressive Ginkelse Heide, you head towards Arnhem.

The challenge is definitely at the end, with a heavy series of leg-burners, including the Emmapiramide, Zijpenberg, and of course the Posbank. After 150 - 160km on the pedals, you return to the starting point. The circle is complete!

Narrow tires? That works perfectly! The route is fully paved, with about 1 km of gravel.

Gravel bike? Then take the gravel variant with an extra 50km of unpaved/gravel sections.

As a bonus, there is also an XL road route (186km / 2km gravel) and an XL gravel route (193km / 40km gravel).

Can you ride every day this Rondo?

Self-guided adventure
Ride this route whenever you like. You don't need to specify a date.

During major tours or cycling races, parts of the route may be inaccessible or limited. For more information, please check the cycling calendar and on the website of the NDW does not work on mobile).

What is the starting point?

You can start anywhere on the circle.

Are you coming from further away? If possible, start a catering location on the route, so that you can start or end with a drink and/or a tasty (drink) snack.

What is the recommended riding direction?

Self-guided adventure
This route is designed to be cycled counterclockwise. This is the most scenic route with the climbs along the way and the most practical due to fewer pedestrian crossings and traffic lights.

Events
At events we cycle counter-clockwise.

What to expect on the route?

The route is fully paved, with about 1 km of gravel.

For a number of segments in the gravel route you need an MTB vignette or day pass from Natuurmonumenten. Order this via: natuurmonumenten.nl/mtb/daypass

is cancellation or exchange possible?

Rondo Pack
Upon placing your order, you receive immediate access to the Rondoguide and GPX files. Just like donations to charity, digital files are non-returnable. Consequently, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded.d.

Events
If you are unable to attend an event, you can go on a Self-guided adventure on another date using the digital Rondoguide and route files. Event extras (such as drinks) will be forfeited. No refunds will be provided.
